According to the UK Sun, Manchester United is contemplating re-signing David de Gea on a short-term contract. De Gea left Old Trafford less than six months ago when his contract expired, and he has not played for any other club since his departure. During his 12-year tenure with the Red Devils, the Spanish goalkeeper made 545 appearances and was a beloved figure in the dressing room.

Reports suggest that some of United’s players were dissatisfied with the treatment De Gea received. The Premier League club is now exploring the option of bringing back the free agent due to concerns about inadequate goalkeeper cover. This concern arises because Cameroon’s Andre Onana will be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

While Tom Heaton and Altay Bayindir are United’s other senior goalkeepers, neither of them has made an appearance so far this season. United found themselves in a challenging situation after Onana reversed his decision to retire from international football.
