Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has settled on defender Victor Lindelof and Bruno Fernandes as his Manchester United players of the season so far.
The Red Devils have faced a challenging start to the season, but recent wins propelled them to sixth place in the Premier League. However, they find themselves at the bottom of their Champions League group. Scoring has been an issue, with players like Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, and Antony struggling, contributing to a goal difference of -3 after 12 games. Identifying a standout performer for Erik ten Hag’s team is difficult, but according to former United defender Mikael Silvestre, it’s narrowed down to two individuals.
‘It’s between Bruno Fernandes and Lindelof,’ Silvestre told bettingexpert.com. ‘He’s scored goals and has a big influence.

‘Lindelof has shown resilience and versatility. He’s got better this season.’
‘There’s not much to choose from. The team is conceding and not scoring.’
Silvestre has urged Fernandes to play a leadership role in guiding the Red Devils through their challenging phase, especially with crucial matches against Everton, Galatasaray, and Newcastle looming after the international break.

‘Bruno needs to lead Manchester United to success to be recognised but he won’t be able to do it alone. He’s playing his role and most of the time he’s playing well,’ said the Frenchman.
‘The goal (against Fulham) came from his quality but also his heart and his rage to fight against United’s struggles. It’s what you want to see from your captain and your offensive player.
‘It’s a tough ride for United at the moment so he needs to carry on but not put too much pressure on himself.’
As of now, Manchester United holds the sixth position in the Premier League standings with 21 points, trailing Manchester City by seven points. Following the international break, the Red Devils will be playing against Everton on the road.
