Wales midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to reject a transfer to Manchester United in favor of Arsenal back in 2008.

Ramsey explained that he turned down the move to Manchester United in 2008 because he believed that joining Arsenal was the best choice for him.

Recalling that both Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger personally contacted him to persuade him to join their respective teams over 15 years ago, Ramsey, who was 17 years old at the time, had an impressive 2007-2008 season with two goals and three assists in 21 games across various competitions for Cardiff City.

In an interview with FourFourTwo, the now 32-year-old midfielder stated, “I was always a Cardiff supporter, but my dad was a Manchester United fan, and I watched their games quite often with him. It was a peculiar moment in my life, having two teams I had watched extensively as a child expressing interest in me. I had conversations with both managers over the phone.”

“At 17 years old, I was receiving voicemails from Fergie and Arsene Wenger – it was surreal. Ultimately, I felt that Arsenal was the right decision for me. I still vividly remember my first day of training, seeing players like Kolo Toure, Cesc Fabregas, Emmanuel Adebayor, William Gallas… I had to pinch myself,” Ramsey concluded
