Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has emphasized that he is not in competition with Jamie Vardy for a starting position in the team.
Since joining King Power in 2017, Iheanacho has primarily played a supporting role to Vardy. However, in the previous season, the Nigerian international emerged as the top scorer for the Foxes and was recognized as the club’s Player of the Season.

Both Iheanacho and Vardy have contributed four goals each to Enzo Maresca’s team this season. Despite this, Iheanacho expressed his deep respect and admiration for Vardy, referring to him as a legendary figure in the sport.
Iheanacho stated, “Let me clarify, there is no competition between Jamie and me. He’s a legend in the game and has made significant contributions to this esteemed club. Therefore, there is no rivalry between Jamie and me.”
“I have the utmost respect for him, as I’ve mentioned before. It’s not a battle. If he is on the field, he scores – that’s his style. So, if I’m playing, I focus on doing my part. Whether it’s me, Jamie, or Patson (Daka), there’s no sense of competition. We’re content with where we stand at the moment.”
