Man United confirm their second summer signing.

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Cerro Porteno left-back Diego Leon after agreeing a deal with the player in January.

The transfer window is beginning to take shape, and Manchester United still have a lot to accomplish before the squad is ready for the 2025/26 campaign.

Negotiations are ongoing for a potential move that would see Bryan Mbeumo join Manchester United from Brentford. Meanwhile, the Red Devils can now officially welcome Paraguayan youngster Diego Leon to the club.

Leon was signed from Cerro Porteño back in January, with his arrival set for July.

Manchester United have now officially confirmed that Diego Leon is part of their squad, and he will be included in the team’s pre-season preparations this summer.

The young left-back is eager to make a strong impression on manager Ruben Amorim during pre-season, as Manchester United prepare for their upcoming Premier League Summer Series tour in the United States.

Diego Leon will have the chance to compete with Patrick Dorgu for the left-back position, though it remains to be seen whether he will be ranked above or below Harry Amass in the squad hierarchy. With Amorim keen to foster healthy competition within the team, Leon’s arrival adds valuable depth to the position.

Having made history as the first Paraguayan to sign for Manchester United, Leon is set to join the first-team squad immediately and will begin training with them on Monday.

Diego Leon is set to meet many of his Manchester United teammates for the first time on Monday morning, when Ruben Amorim’s squad reconvenes to begin pre-season training.

In a bid to maintain a positive atmosphere within the group, Amorim has already instructed five players to sit out pre-season. The additions of Matheus Cunha and Leon are expected to contribute to that refreshed environment.

Leon will be aiming to make his debut for United during the upcoming pre-season friendlies scheduled over the next month.
