Ex-Man Utd defender sues his former side over ‘clinical negligence.’

Tuanzebe

SkySports is reporting that former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has filed a clinical negligence lawsuit against his former club, Manchester United.

The 27-year-old submitted the legal claim on July 9, alleging issues related to “medical advice.”

Tuanzebe departed Manchester United two years ago following the expiration of his contract.

A product of the club’s youth academy, he made 37 senior appearances before moving to Ipswich in 2023.

Tuanzebe’s spell at Manchester United was hampered by injuries, beginning with a hip problem sustained during the warm-up before a match against Liverpool in 2019.

Later that year, he suffered another setback in a Carabao Cup win over Colchester United in December, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Tuanzebe missed the start of the next season due to a foot injury and endured another extended period out at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign. He didn’t resume training until January, after which he was loaned out to Stoke City.

Injuries continued to affect Tuanzebe until his move to Ipswich, where he overcame fitness issues, made over 40 appearances, and secured a regular spot as the club’s first-choice right-back, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2023/24 season.

The DR Congo international joined Burnley on a free transfer last month after rejecting a contract extension from Ipswich.

Both Manchester United and Tuanzebe’s representatives have declined to provide any comment on the matter.
