Former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has expressed his prediction that Nigeria will emerge as the champions of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The 2023 AFCON, scheduled for January 2024, will be hosted by Ivory Coast.

Mikel Obi, however, holds a strong belief that Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles, has the potential to secure their fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast.

In a video shared by CAFonline through its X account on Thursday, Mikel Obi confidently declared that the Super Eagles would achieve victory and bring the trophy back to Nigeria.

He stated, “This is coming home. The tournament is coming home; AFCON 2023 is coming home to Nigeria.”

Furthermore, the 2023 AFCON draw was conducted on Thursday night, placing Nigeria in Group A alongside Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
