Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Manchester United may consider making a late move for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume before the transfer window closes.
Reports suggest Manchester United have lined up 23-year-old French midfielder Lucien Agoumé as a possible backup option to Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, with the club keeping a close eye on him as the transfer window enters its final two weeks.
Manchester United have ended their chase for Carlos Baleba after Brighton made it clear that the 21-year-old is not available, despite strong interest from the Old Trafford board.
The Premier League side are thought to have held multiple discussions over Baleba’s price tag, but have now acknowledged that the deal is financially unfeasible and are set to shift their focus to alternative options.

Lucien Agoume could prove to be a strong addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer, with recent experience in both Spanish and French top-flight football. Known for his strength and ball-winning ability in midfield, the 23-year-old has earned praise for his impact in breaking up opposition play.
The midfielder, described as “extraordinary,” is tied to Sevilla until June 2028 and was a key figure in their league campaign last season, featuring in 35 La Liga matches and contributing four goals and assists combined.
Agoumé played a crucial role in helping Sevilla steer clear of relegation, with the seven-time Europa League champions ending the season in 17th place, only a point clear of the drop zone.
He made the switch from Inter Milan to the Andalusian club last year, having managed just four senior outings for the Italian side — one of which came during their title-winning 2023/24 campaign.
Manchester United have invested significantly in strengthening their attack this summer, bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko for a combined fee of £210 million.
They have also secured the signing of highly rated left-back Diego Leon, while Marcus Rashford has departed on a season-long loan to Barcelona, which includes an option to make the move permanent.

Manchester United are still aiming to move on a number of fringe players before the window closes, with Alejandro Garnacho in discussions over a switch to Chelsea and Jadon Sancho attracting interest from Roma.
GIVEMESPORT’s senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano reports that the ex-Borussia Dortmund star is weighing up the Italian club’s offer and has not yet decided on his future.
