Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher blasted Sofyan Amrabat during Manchester United’s draw at Anfield, and said the Moroccan ‘can’t run’.
Manchester United secured a draw at Anfield following a spirited performance, during which Liverpool dominated but couldn’t find the net.
Amrabat, a summer loan acquisition from Fiorentina, positioned himself in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo, with Scott McTominay playing in front of them.
The Moroccan player hasn’t made a positive impact at Old Trafford, and he was one of United’s least impressive performer in an otherwise satisfactory display at Anfield.
But Carragher said Amrabat undermined United’s man-to-man tactics at Anfield because he’s unable to ‘run’.
‘I don’t know why they’re playing a man-to-man system,’ said Carragher.
‘He [Amrabat] can’t run.’
United invested £8 million in securing Amrabat on loan, with the possibility of acquiring him permanently for approximately £17 million.
At the conclusion of the season, Amrabat will have one more year remaining on his Fiorentina contract, and there is expected to be interest from other parties.
Casemiro has been absent from play for the past two months but is anticipated to make a comeback in the coming two weeks.
