Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has fired back at his critics following ‘months of abuse’ on social media.

The forward for the Red Devils responded to a fan’s post on X early Friday morning.

It read: “The way Marcus Rashford is being treated is absolutely disgusting. It’s cruel. It’s abuse.”

To which the 26-year-old responded by posting: “I appreciate your support! It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough.”

This season, several United fan accounts have focused their attention on the 60-cap England international.

During the FA Cup semi-final victory against Coventry, Rashford was booed by a portion of the club’s supporters as he was substituted off.

The graduate from United’s academy has found it difficult to match his impressive performance from the previous season, where he played a direct role in 40 goals, helping his team secure a top-four finish.

This season, however, he has managed to score eight goals and provide five assists across 40 matches in all competitions.

In his last ten Premier League appearances, Marcus Rashford has scored just two goals, as United looks likely to miss out on qualifying for the Champions League.

Erik ten Hag’s team is currently in sixth place, trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by 13 points with only five matches remaining.

This isn’t the first occasion this season that Rashford has stood up for himself, having previously hit back at critics who doubted his dedication to the club.

Writing in the Players’ Tribune, he said: “When I make a mistake, I’ll be the first one to put my hand up and say that I need to do better.

“But if you ever question my commitment to Man United that’s when I have to speak up.

“It’s like somebody questioning my entire identity, and everything I stand for as a man.

“I grew up here. I have played for this club since I was a boy. My family turned down life-changing money when I was a kid so I could wear this badge.”

Before adding: “I can take any criticism. I can take any headline. From podcasts, social media and the papers. I can take it.

“But if you start questioning my commitment to this club and my love for football and bringing my family into it, then I’d simply ask you to have a bit more humanity.”
